Expertly handcrafted from polished copper with traditional cast brass compass points, this fully functional flying duck weathervane combines elegant wildlife styling with durable outdoor construction. The polished copper naturally develops an attractive aged patina over time, eventually achieving a distinctive verdigris appearance that adds character as it ages.

Standing approximately 762mm (30 inches) tall when assembled, this substantial farmhouse weathervane features a beautifully detailed copper duck measuring 560mm (22 inches) from beak to tail. A sturdy steel assembly rod provides strength and durability, while the traditional NSEW compass points indicate wind direction.

Supplied with a 125mm (5-inch) eaves mounting bracket as standard, with alternative fixing brackets available, select your bracket type from the drop down box.

It changes colour with age

Polished copper softens to a warm brown, then over the years to green verdigris. A clear lacquer slows it down. Want the aged look straight away? Choose the verdigris finish.

Handcrafted and brazed

The figure and spacer balls are formed from copper and brazed together by hand. You may see the joins. They’re the mark of something made by hand, not a fault.

Turns on a brass pivot

A single-point brass pivot lets it swing with the wind. The N, S, E and W points are cast brass, and the steel rod has an exterior powder coat.

Farmhouse weathervane questions

On a house roof, barn, stable, cupola or larger outbuilding. They’re sized to be seen from the garden or the road. On a shed or small garage they can look too big, so a cottage weathervane is usually better there.

You get one fixing free, whichever you choose: the 5″ eave bracket or the post bracket. Choose the 12″ eave bracket if your eaves stick out a long way, the adjustable roof mount for a pitched ridge, the 4-sided mount for a cupola or four-sided roof top, or the garden pole to stand it in the ground.

Yes. The steel assembly rod can be extended for extra height, which helps it clear a ridge or chimney. Extension rods are in our farmhouse accessories.

Not forever. Outdoors it softens to a warm brown and, over the years, to a green verdigris. A clear lacquer slows this down but won’t stop it. For the aged look from day one, choose the verdigris finish.
