Traditional weathervane questions

Traditional weathervanes are our larger steel silhouette designs, finished in a black powder coat. Standing 800–930mm tall when assembled, they're big enough to be seen clearly on a house or outbuilding, and they turn freely to show the wind direction.

They're sized for houses, garages, workshops, stables and other outbuildings, and can also be fitted to a sturdy fence post. For a shed or gazebo, our smaller Oakley range may suit better.

Each Traditional weathervane comes with a universal clamp bracket and backplate (73mm × 55mm) and a 10mm steel stem that can be fitted straight or cranked, so you can fix it to a wall, fascia, or the side or top of a post. Screws, wall plugs and an Allen key are included, and the screws suit timber or masonry.

Traditional weathervanes are made from steel and finished in an exterior-grade powder coat, which protects the steel and keeps it looking good for years. For extra protection, or to freshen it up later, give it a coat of Hammerite paint.

Most Traditional designs stand 800–930mm tall and 390–450mm wide when assembled, with compass arms 390mm across. Exact dimensions for each design are on its product page.

UK mainland delivery (excluding the Highlands and islands) is free on orders of £50 or more, so every Traditional weathervane ships free to the UK mainland. Any delivery charge for the Scottish Highlands and islands, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland is shown at checkout before you pay.
