Copper is used on our 3D ranges (heads and spacers) offering timeless quality with corrosion-free durability. This precious metal naturally achieves a verdigris effect over a period of time. A lacquer spray can be used to prolong the polished effect and delay the development of the natural patina. The 3D bodies are handcrafted from beaten copper sections and brazed. The brazing will be visible, but this does not tend to detract from the overall good looks of our copper weathervanes.
Cast brass fittings are used for the cardinal points (NSEW) on our 3D polished copper weathervanes.
Steel is used for the rotation rods and standard bracket mount on the 3D weathervanes. The steel is coated with an exterior quality powder coat paint for extended life.
The weathervane rods and mounts are coated with an exterior quality powder coat paint which protects the steel and offers a durable finish. You can expect this finish to look good for quite some time! For extended life, we suggest giving the mount a coat of Hammerite paint.

Farmhouse weathervane questions
Where should a farmhouse weathervane go?
On a house roof, barn, stable, cupola or larger outbuilding. They’re sized to be seen from the garden or the road. On a shed or small garage they can look too big, so a cottage weathervane is usually better there.
Which bracket do I need?
You get one fixing free, whichever you choose: the 5″ eave bracket or the post bracket. Choose the 12″ eave bracket if your eaves stick out a long way, the adjustable roof mount for a pitched ridge, the 4-sided mount for a cupola or four-sided roof top, or the garden pole to stand it in the ground.
Can I make it taller?
Yes. The steel assembly rod can be extended for extra height, which helps it clear a ridge or chimney. Extension rods are in our farmhouse accessories.
Does polished copper stay shiny?
Not forever. Outdoors it softens to a warm brown and, over the years, to a green verdigris. A clear lacquer slows this down but won’t stop it. For the aged look from day one, choose the verdigris finish.
How much is delivery?
UK mainland delivery (excluding the Highlands and islands) is free on orders of £50 or more, so every farmhouse weathervane ships free to the UK mainland, sent by tracked courier. Any delivery charge for the Scottish Highlands and islands, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland is shown at checkout before you pay.
